Join us for an interactive workshop at the Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability at the University of East London, organised with Kenyatta University and American University Cairo. Responding to the theme of Belonging, the session explores how bio-based materials can reconnect construction to local climates, resources and knowledge. Drawing on British Council-supported collaborations, it investigates the use of agricultural by-products across diverse contexts, including sugarcane bagasse from Kenya or banana fibres from Egypt. Through hands-on experimentation and discussion, participants will test how locally-grounded materials can foster ecological responsibility and cultural connection. Open to participants interested innovation through bio-based materials.
