Our cross-disciplinary experiment brought together Middlesex MA Interiors and UCL MSc Urban Planning students to imagine new possibilities for a building in Kilburn. Working with narratives gathered from residents, students treated these accounts as forms of prior knowledge, evidence of belonging, that could shape more responsive and inclusive design proposals. Students acted as agents of change, co designing speculative yet grounded solutions that bridged policy, planning, and interior spatial strategies. The London models will help orientate this talk, which should be of interest to anyone looking for fresh approaches to community engagement, curriculum design, and adaptive reuse strategies.
