Guided walks, led by local people, exploring Poplar’s extraordinary role in the Festival of Britain - the location of the Live Architecture Exhibition.

Named after politician and social-justice campaigner, George Lansbury, the Lansbury Estate included housing, market-place, clock tower, school, and church. The planning and design process brought together a wealth of contemporary talent, including Frederick Gibberd, and Geoffrey Jellicoe, and it was a template for contemporary new towns. During the Live Architecture Exhibition, visitors could walk through a finished section of the neighbourhood, view a completed show-home, and meet its first residents, the Snoddy family
