The event examines how a sense of belonging to public space is produced through both its construction and use. It begins with a guided sound walk through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel that evokes the labour embedded within this subaqueous infrastructure, informed by archival research from the tunnel’s construction period. This is followed by a screening of a short film made within the tunnel and a public discussion. Revisiting the tunnel’s history of construction while reflecting on its repeated use by commuters today, the event considers how labour—both historical and everyday—shapes experiences of ownership and belonging in public space.
