This BSL-led tour, facilitated for D/deaf visitors and their companions, explores the Design Museum’s iconic building, formerly the Commonwealth Institute, and how its transformation fosters belonging and cultural connection. Designed by RMJM and reopened by John Pawson’s team in 2016, the Grade II* listed building combines historic and contemporary design, from its hyperbolic parabola rooftop to remarkable spatial qualities.
The tour also highlights PLATFORM: Simone Brewster, whose interdisciplinary work engages with material histories, African diasporic traditions, and ideas of presence and representation.
Experience how architecture and design can create spaces of identity, visibility, and belonging.
