Who belongs in the overlooked, in-between spaces of our cities? Terrain vague, vacant lots, neglected churchyards, forgotten green spaces, are often dismissed as empty or purposeless. Yet for many communities they are spaces of freedom, imagination and quiet resistance: places where belonging is practised on its own terms.
This exhibition of University of Westminster students from the School of Architecture and Cities presents community-engaged student research, design proposals and mappings documenting and reimagining terrain vague in London. Visitors will discover how temporary urbanism, participatory design and everyday acts of care can transform neglected spaces into places where everyone belongs.
