St Martin-in-the-Fields: Royal church and Revolutionary building - a short talk and tour by Neil MacGregor, congregation member, broadcaster and former Director of the British Museum.
Known for its commitment to peace, justice, and working with the vulnerable and marginalised, St Martin-in-the-Fields is proud to champion the theme of belonging.
One of Britain’s best-known churches, it is famed for its Italian Baroque design by James Gibbs, completed in 1726, and has influenced church architecture across North America and globally.
In the 19th century, John Nash’s redesign of Trafalgar Square added Church Path and a northern range of buildings, strengthening St Martin’s place in London’s changing urban landscape.
2026 is St Martin’s 300th anniversary. Join this special event - part of a year-long programme of exhibitions and activities!
