Our cities are not blank canvases, yet regeneration too often treats them as if they are - clearing and displacing with the promise of value rising from the debris.
With creative and community spaces under increasing pressures nationally, Croydon-rooted artist-led space Turf Projects convenes an urgent symposium of organisations navigating this precarity.
Drawing on real-world experiences, we'll dream of ways to embed permanent spaces for culture and community in our cities, asking how spatial decision making shapes who gets opportunities and feels valued.

Turf is split over multiple floors. There is step-free access to both floors, for Turf’s gallery & workspace on the Ground floor, and the Project Space and hosted organisations on the 1st floor. Our floors are flat and even. Our doors are double wide – outward opening downstairs and inwards opening upstairs.
Accessible toilet available via a lift.
Seating
We have ample hard seating and some limited soft seating – a two seater sofa and bean bags.
Toilets on site
There are gender neutral toilets located on the first floor, which is step free via a lift just outside our unit but is on the floor above the event, and lower ground floor of Turf’s studios accessible via one flight of 18 steps. Additionally there is an accessible toilet located inside the Whitgift Shopping centre. We have a key if you need one.
