A IS FOR ARCHITECTURE throws open the doors of its Hackney Road studio—inviting you in to explore, linger, and look again—alongside multidisciplinary artist Vanessa Farinha. As part of this year’s London Festival of Architecture, Farinha takes up residence in the practice, poking at the habits of architects and the quiet assumptions of the studio. Who gets to belong in an architecture office? And does an architecture office belong on the high street?
An artist practices in an architect's practice.
What are the differences in our methods? What are the similarities in our interests? How can an artist compliment and influence the architect’s work & vice versa? Can the architect's office become a place to connect with local community?
How does the personal sensorial experience of local buildings & streets affect the practice?

Launch of Vanessa Farinha's residency. After working at and with A IS FOR ARCHITECTURE and the local Tower Hamlets community for a number of weeks, we would like to invite the public at large to our office in Hackney Road to share outcomes and insights as well as food and drink!

The office used to be London's olders ironmongers and as such is an old structure with steps, low ceilings and steep ramps. Entrance door to main space is at least 1,2m wide.
