A free, light-hearted guided walk going west from outside Russell Square Underground Station into the heart of Fitzrovia. The walk will be a mix of history with a fair sprinkling of stories and memories from being a Bobby on the Beat in this area some 55 years ago.
Our journey will take us along the very edge of London, where to our left will be the expanding City, and a complete contrast of open fields to our right. I will be leading the walk participants through an iconic University of London building, a venue that had belonged to many thousands of University students for the past 200 years.
Along the way, we will stop outside a building that used to be Tottenham Court Road police station, a public building that once belonged to the local community. We will explore the site of an old theatre that was part of a famous Beatles film, at an age when the 1960s music revolution belonged to everybody. We will also see the Fitzrovia Chapel, where King Charles chose for his Christmas Day message two years ago, this message being sent across the world.
